Gingerbread House Championships of the World

So for Christmas, we were royally in poverty, so my family decided NO PRESENTS! Instead, we had this epic gingerbread house building competition. We drew names out of a hat and I got paired up with my sister's friend Christina. Jack and Barbie were partners, Nick and Jenn were partners, and Annie and Aaron were partners. Momma was the helping hand hard at work making excess frosting (aka glue) for our constructions. We had one and a half hours and we were off!
Christina thought of the pretzel roof, and I thought of the silo... We raised a farm!

The finished product!

One and a half hours later, the winner was announced....... drumroll...... Jack & Barbie. I was like, "What do you mean I lost?!" I don't think I have ever been this competitive before, and it was in a baked goods contest! And I lost! Hey, when a gumdrop lamppost and almond woodpile beat a Nilla wafer silo and marshmallow sheep, you have to wonder what this world is coming to.

Until next year.... my scheming begins.....

Year Reflection

Well this has been quite a year. I usually like to reflect on what has happened, events, emotions, joys, pains, friends, everything. So here we go:
  • Aaron and I got married!
  • Started junior year of college at Fresno State
  • Went to the Seattle Bootcamp for Acts 29, where God royally shook me up inside
  • Took 21 units, worked in Children's Ministry, and had about 5 nervous breakdowns before finals....
  • My best friend got back from New Zealand
  • Aaron's father passed away
  • Aaron and I bought our first home! A little tiny condo
  • Spent the entire summer looking for a job and spending time with Aaron's mother
  • Moved into our little house and then started school
  • Started working as a receptionist for a hair salon
  • I started knitting
  • Aaron's best friend Aaron got married to his new bride, Amy!
  • Finished finals and are still waiting for grades...
  • Finally going on our honeymoon after 1 year of marriage- cruise to Mexico!
  • Aaron's best friend's father Tim just passed away this morning....
This has been quite a year. I remember Ecclesiastes 7:1-4, It is better to go to the house of mourning....
Walk with me as we start the new year.

Happenstance

So it happened. I started this blog to kick off my journaling. Old paper and pen struggles in between my index, thumb and middle finger. Perhaps the click click of the smooth white keyboard (yep- 'tis a mac) will suffice. And so I will jump in, and say hello to everyone who wishes to watch my posts. Thank you for your visits!
